The Lutetia Paris Spring City Guide: Life on the Left Bank

May 23, 2023

Our dedicated Concierge team – known for their flawless planning and meticulous knowledge of Paris – has imagined the perfect Spring day in the city. From beautiful gardens to shopping and nice terrasses, discover just some of their recommendations to experience the Left Bank at its best.

Take a walk in the Jardin du Luxembourg
A few steps away from Lutetia, start your day in the beautiful Jardin du Luxembourg for a nice walk among blooming trees, fountains and statues and discover one of the most emblematic gardens in Paris. Buzzing with people but away from the noise of the city, this is the best way to kick off your day. Let yourself be tempted by the Musée du Luxembourg where you can, until mid-July, admire the unique exhibition dedicated to Léon Monet (1839-1917), the forgotten brother of Claude Monet.

Discover the Mouffetard Village
The walk continues at the exit of the garden: pass in front of the iconic Pantheon and join the Place de la Contrescarpe and the rue Mouffetard, a small cobbled street with a village feel, where you can discover authentic Parisian shops with classical charm. Think of it as your own personal Montmartre village on the Left Bank.

A relaxed lunch at Café de Flore
Beloved by the stylish from Paris and beyond, this is certainly one of those legendary places that made Saint Germain des Prés famous. For more than a century, artists, intellectuals and musicians have been rubbing shoulders with locals and tourists over dinner, an aperitif, and even a simple coffee. All this, plus a floral terrace overlooking the iconic Church of Saint-Germain-des-Prés? A true must in the neighbourhood.

Shopping spree at le Bon Marché
Just in front of the Lutetia, discover the first department store in Paris: Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche. From fashion to jewellery, leather goods, shoes and cosmetics, spend hours discovering the best home designers, tableware, and – of course – the famous Grande Epicerie for your new favourite gourmet products. We dare say that all French art-de-vivre and savoir faire is represented in this emblematic spot.
